Hello! I am so excited about this give away. It just brings me closer to my dream of visiting Italy one day. My mother and father’s family came from the Rome area and the mountain areas and I hope to see those areas in the future. I love to cook and pass on my love of cooking and eating to my children. What a wonderful way to honor my Italian Heritage!! Thank you! Debbie

Whoever came up with the idea of adopting an olive tree is a genius!! That is so, so neat! In our home, we are olive oil obsessed – always on the lookout for different brands and flavors. I mainly want to win because of the olive oils, but that big, beautiful hunk of Parmigiano Reggiano is just as big an incentive!

I just liked Italian Food Forever, and Parmigiano Reggiano on Facebook, but I’ve been getting email from the IFF site for a long time now, I even have a folder just for the emails I receive. I love the recipes and it just inspires me to try different things than what I grew up with. As for cheese there is only one way to go, Parmigiano Reggiano I get this at my favorite Italian Deli/Meat Market Violante’s all the time, where they grate it fresh and sell it in plastic bags . Growing up Italian was the best, friends of mine now hold Mangia dinners at different restaurants and it’s great reliving the memories of growing up in a an Italian neighborhood. Winning this prize would be awesome. Now to continue brushing up on my Italian and plan my first trip to Italy to visit where my grandparents were born. My sisters and I have been trying for years to get there, maybe soon, until then I just have to hope I win this contest. LOL

Having been to Italy this past May, I was fascinated by olive trees. They are so beautiful with their slender, shimmering leaves & willowy branches. I really wanted to bring a tree home but alas, that was impossible. Have researched growing olive trees here but there are only a few success stories. I did bring home quite a few bottles from different regions. That buttery liquid gold is something to be savored.
When I returned from Italy, it took me awhile to enjoy eating again. Having the gift basket with those wonderful products will certainly elevate my cooking & help me enjoy a little bit of Italu at home!

Although the cheese in the Gift Basket is making my mouth water. I would love to win this prize (thank you for the offer!) because I am proud to be an Italian American. Unfortunately I did not know my grandparents, all of them dying when I was too young, so I am trying to learn Italian culture and cooking is what interests me most. I buy olive oil by the gallon!

My husband is Italian-American. He grew up in a traditional Italian family and has been teaching me what it means to live and eat Italian since our marriage 11 years ago. I love it! I have learned to take olive oil, garlic, tomatoes and a few fresh herbs and make a delicious sauce (gravy). I make my own Italian bread, like the bread my husband used to buy from the local bakery everyday growing up. I would love to win all these wonderful Itslian goodies to share with my Italian sweetheart!

Well, who WOULDN’T want to win one or both of these! Hope it’s me. My husband and I love hard Italian cheese—grated, sliced, chunked, with or without crackers or bread. After a trip to Italy in 2006, we recognized the difference between good, fresh Italian olive oil and what we once thought was fresh. Same with good, aged cheese. Again, hope that we win! Thanks, Deborah!

As always, a fantastic contest…. didn’t know that October was Italian American Heritage month. Will be calling my 91 year old mother to ask her if she is aware of this celebration.

We here have some type of cheese with almost every meal, so this is a great contest for us, and our own olive oil tree adoption is overwhelming, would love to do this whether a winner or not.

    Thank you Deborah.

I grew up in an Italian neighborhood in the Bronx, NY. We lived in a house built by my grandfather who was born in Italy. My memories of life back then are of Fig trees and grape vines in the back yard and my Grandmother outside making her own tomato paste by drying the tomatos in the sun and adding olive oil as it got thicker and thicker. I grew up on everything Italian from peaches soaked in home made wine, Italian birthday cakes from DeLillos bakery and home made raviolis . Life back then was all about family, friends and food. Just entering this contest has stirred up wonderful memories. for me. Winning it would be like getting a smile from my grand parents who taught just how blessed I was to have been born Italian. I also make a mean Eggplant Parmigian – I made it just yesterday and I used Paramigiano Reggiano. Only the very best when it comes to Italian

I am always looking to match a recipe to something she made for us. She couldn’t read or write so we have lost alot of recipes. I truly loved the smell in her home and the taste of even the simplest foods. I spent alot of my childhood with her. It is great being Italian! Thanks you for such a great website.

I have ‘liked’ both Italian Food Forever and The Parmigiano Reggiano on FaceBook, and am now happily following you on Twitter (though I have to tell you that Twitter’s not very useful for actually ‘following’ someone as messages get lost too easily in the rush of tweets). But, I do love your recipes and I’ve been on your email list for a while now! I’m a (now, sadly) single, nearly-60-year-old man who loves to cook for others, and I’ve cooked many of your dishes with delightful results. So, although I probably won’t win this ‘contest,’ I’ll still enjoy cooking with you. Oh, BTW, I love the modest, simple way in which you write. It makes you so very accessible, as if we’re just chatting! Cheers! David

I am half Italian and half Irish. I have to admit that the Italian side more than wins out in most everything I do. My maternal grandparents are from Tuscany (Lucca and Monticottini). My favorite oil to cook with is Extra Virgin Olive oil…from Lucca of course! And who doesn’t just love Parmesan…I eat it by the slice – when it slices and doesn’t crumble first.
