I just liked Italian Food Forever, and Parmigiano Reggiano on Facebook, but I’ve been getting email from the IFF site for a long time now, I even have a folder just for the emails I receive. I love the recipes and it just inspires me to try different things than what I grew up with. As for cheese there is only one way to go, Parmigiano Reggiano I get this at my favorite Italian Deli/Meat Market Violante’s all the time, where they grate it fresh and sell it in plastic bags . Growing up Italian was the best, friends of mine now hold Mangia dinners at different restaurants and it’s great reliving the memories of growing up in a an Italian neighborhood. Winning this prize would be awesome. Now to continue brushing up on my Italian and plan my first trip to Italy to visit where my grandparents were born. My sisters and I have been trying for years to get there, maybe soon, until then I just have to hope I win this contest. LOL

Having been to Italy this past May, I was fascinated by olive trees. They are so beautiful with their slender, shimmering leaves & willowy branches. I really wanted to bring a tree home but alas, that was impossible. Have researched growing olive trees here but there are only a few success stories. I did bring home quite a few bottles from different regions. That buttery liquid gold is something to be savored.
When I returned from Italy, it took me awhile to enjoy eating again. Having the gift basket with those wonderful products will certainly elevate my cooking & help me enjoy a little bit of Italu at home!

You have the best giveaways!!! How do you ever find stuff like this. I love the Adopt an Olive Tree prize the best. So original & useful. Although the cheese in the Gift Basket is making my mouth water. We have great cheese in WI but truely great Parmigiano Reggiano must be imported (the pasturization requirement ruins the domestic cheese). I’d love to win either. Thanks for the opportunity to enter.
[Reply]
I’d love to win this because not only do I love Italian food and cook it often, but adore olive oil. I use it in almost everything and it’s even what I moisturize my face with.

I make my own Italian bread, like the bread my husband used to buy from the local bakery everyday growing up. Well, who WOULDN’T want to win one or both of these! Hope it’s me. My husband and I love hard Italian cheese—grated, sliced, chunked, with or without crackers or bread. After a trip to Italy in 2006, we recognized the difference between good, fresh Italian olive oil and what we once thought was fresh. Same with good, aged cheese. Again, hope that we win! Thanks, Deborah!

I grew up in an Italian neighborhood in the Bronx, NY. We lived in a house built by my grandfather who was born in Italy. My memories of life back then are of Fig trees and grape vines in the back yard and my Grandmother outside making her own tomato paste by drying the tomatos in the sun and adding olive oil as it got thicker and thicker. I grew up on everything Italian from peaches soaked in home made wine, Italian birthday cakes from DeLillos bakery and home made raviolis . Life back then was all about family, friends and food. Just entering this contest has stirred up wonderful memories. for me. Winning it would be like getting a smile from my grand parents who taught just how blessed I was to have been born Italian. I also make a mean Eggplant Parmigian – I made it just yesterday and I used Paramigiano Reggiano. Only the very best when it comes to Italian
[Reply]
My Polish parents & ancestors are not happy with my constant comment of “I LOVE Italian food — seriously, what other kind of food is there?’ I tell them that I was Italian in a previous lifetime or maybe I’m just practising for a future lifetime. But I just say “Maanja!!” and hope that I learn to spell it as well as I like to eat it!
[Reply]
I’d love to win this! Parmigiano Reggiano is my favorite cheese, and I use it all the time. I also use extra virgin olive oil in all my cooking.

I love your website and recipes. It reminds me of my grandmother. She was from Abruzzi. She would bring over the best locatelli cheese. She would have the wheels hanging in her basement. I am always looking to match a recipe to something she made for us. She couldn’t read or write so we have lost alot of recipes. I truly loved the smell in her home and the taste of even the simplest foods. I spent alot of my childhood with her. It is great being Italian! Thanks you for such a great website.

Olive oil has its own spot at the base of the food pyramid in our house. My husband lived in Italy for two years and of course is in love with the food. I have ‘liked’ both Italian Food Forever and The Parmigiano Reggiano on FaceBook, and am now happily following you on Twitter (though I have to tell you that Twitter’s not very useful for actually ‘following’ someone as messages get lost too easily in the rush of tweets). But, I do love your recipes and I’ve been on your email list for a while now! I’m a (now, sadly) single, nearly-60-year-old man who loves to cook for others, and I’ve cooked many of your dishes with delightful results. So, although I probably won’t win this ‘contest,’ I’ll still enjoy cooking with you. Oh, BTW, I love the modest, simple way in which you write. It makes you so very accessible, as if we’re just chatting! Cheers! David

My Calebrese Grandmother is still alive at the wonderful age of 91. She still is a fantastic cook. I would love to share this basket with her….. thanks for this wonderful opportunity!!!
