Lagostina Risotto Pot Review

topimage
I was recently contacted by folks working for Lagostina asking me to take part in their Blogger Challenge Giveaway. Knowing the quality of Lagostina products, I immediately agreed, and they sent me their Lagostina Risottiera (Risotto Pot) to try out and review.  As you can see from the photos, this is one gorgeous looking pot, and it is even better in person. Having lived in Italy throughout the years, I have owned many Lagostina products and have always been impressed with the quality of their pots and pans.

61LL+EnPZ2L._SL1000_The day my Risottiera arrived, I unpacked it and was immediately taken with how attractive the pot looked. The cherry wood lid is beautiful with “Risotto” embossed into the wood, and the pot itself is quite heavy which is important when making risotto. Being a cook who spends a lot of time in the kitchen, the quality of my kitchen equipment and tools are very important to me, and I especially value good quality, stainless steel pots and pans. The multi-layered design of the Lagostina risotto pot ensures a heavy bottom that is necessary for the slow simmering required when making a perfect risotto dish.

Excited to try out my new pot, I decided to make a hearty Osso Buco Risotto With Red Wine . I have had this risotto dish on my “to do” list for months, and this was the perfect opportunity to prepare it. I used the traditional method of preparing my risotto that begins with sautéing onions in a butter and oil combination, then stirring in the rice until it is coated in the butter and onion mixture. Next, wine is added until it has been almost completely absorbed while you continually stir to keep the grains of rice from sticking. Warm broth is then added, a ladle full at a time, and the rice slowly begins to absorb the liquid as it cooks. I found the Lagostina Risotto pot the perfect pot to make risotto, as the heavy bottom kept the rice from sticking, and the shape of the pot with its wide rim helped with absorption and made stirring very easy. My risotto cooked perfectly using the Lagostina risotto pot, and I even found cleanup to be a breeze! I have owned two different risotto pots in the past, and I found the Lagostina Risottiera to be at a whole different level of quality. Truly the best pot I have ever used to make risotto, and I have made a lot of risotto over the years! Check out the recipe for Osso Buco Risotto With Red Wine that I made with my Lagostina Risottiera pot!

About The Lagostina Company: Founded in Omegna , Italy in 1901 by Carlo Lagostina and his son Emilio, Lagostina quickly became a renowned brand with a specialty in manufacturing tinplate cookware. After discovering the first stainless steel plate at the 1929 Milan Trade Show, the founder’s grandnephew recognized the exceptional qualities of stainless steel for cooking performance.

In 1934, Lagostina launched “Casa Mia”, the first cookware collection made of stainless steel, which would eventually be exhibited at the MoMA in New York. Over the years, the brand has continued to innovate- launching the first “Thermoplan” thermo-diffuser base to ensure perfect heat conductivity, and later conceiving the “Pastaiola”, a pot designed to both cook and drain pasta.

Since 1901, Lagostina’s core values of impeccable Italian craftsmanship, high-quality materials, technological innovation, and elegant design have endured. Today, as Italy’s preferred premium cookware brand, we continue to stand behind these core values with a lifetime guarantee.

Each piece of Lagostina cookware represents quintessential Italian culture…celebration of food, life, family and friends – of memorable gatherings around the table; of spirited conversation.
