Friday Photos {October 22nd, 2021}

It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks, which is why I missed posting photos last Friday. We took a quick trip to Venice with the pups, visited Trevi’s Festival of Black Celery and Sausage Festival, and had an amzing truffle meal in Trevi at San Pietro a Pettine. The trip to Venice needs it’s own post so I can share some new favorite places with you, and I’ll get to that next week. This week we spent three and a half days havesting our olives and that experience too deserves it’s own post!

If you are ever around Umbria in the fall, there are a number of sagras or festivals that take place although the attendence seems smaller than usual post Covid. We have always visited the black celery festival which is a small one that takes lace in the small town of Trevi, Umbria’s olive oil capital. The above photo is a sunset I caught one evening from our property. Certainly stunning!

Farmer’s selling their black celery. We nosticed fewer stands this year.

Grilled sausage panini and local red wine. Beakfast of Champion my husband calls it!

More black celery. As you can see, the celery is not really black but is darker than regular celery with a much more pronounced flavor.

  1. Good Morning Debra:

    Loved the photos, scenery is always beautiful, food looks great too, especially the hearty sausage breakfast. I noticed some of the people are wearing masks and the weather looks a little cool. Always enjoy your e-mails and recipes. Enjoy life

    1. Folks must wear masks indoors and in fact you cannot enter restaurants or hotels without a vaccination card. The restaurants and hotels risk fines if they do not record that information. Many folks that wear masks outdoors are not vaccinated or are extra cautious. We wear masks outdoors when in crowded areas like the celery festival.
