Baked Sausage Ziti With Cheesy Pockets For Pomi Tomatoes

I just spent ten days up in Michigan visiting family, and I thoroughly enjoyed the cooler temperatures and experiencing the fall season. Even during my short stay, I was able to watch the leaves on the trees change from yellow to red. We bundled up to watch my grandson play soccer, and visited a cider mill for warm cider and donuts.

Spending winter months in Florida, I usually do not have the opportunity to experience all of the seasons, so I really enjoyed my trip up north. When the temperatures drop as winter approaches, folks tend to crave heartier, comforting foods such as soups, stews, along with baked pasta dishes. I am a huge fan of baked pasta dishes of all types, and try and add one into my meal rotation at least every other week.

This baked ziti recipe that I developed for Pomi Tomatoes is becoming a family favorite in my house. I have been developing recipes for Pomi the past few months which has been completely enjoyable since Pomi is my favorite brand of tomato products!

The pasta is tossed in a flavorful sausage ragu made with either Pomi strained or chopped tomatoes and spooned into a casserole dish. Creamy ricotta cheese is mixed with heavy cream and shredded mozzarella and spooned into pockets throughout the pasta dish. Once baked, the pasta dish emerges from the oven bubbly and lightly browned. This is truly a great cool weather dish that the whole family will love!
